This quirky spot is famous for housing the world’s only rooftop trailer park. The seven Airstream trailers certainly make for slightly surreal surroundings! Once you’ve taken in the views (and taken a few snaps for Instagram), you can grab a cold beer or the ultimate Grand Daddy cocktail and relax. The venue also boasts an open air cinema which screens classic movies throughout the summer months.

Dubbed as ‘Cape Town’s favourite rooftop bar’, La Bottega may not boast great heights but it certainly packs a punch when it comes to the cocktail menu. Based on the Italian way of life with a pinch of South African flavour thrown in, La Bottega combines no fuss food, bargain drinks and a relaxed, cheerful atmosphere and there’s little wonder it’s such a hit with locals. Be sure not to miss their 2 for 1 cocktails every Wednesday between 4 – 6pm too.

Situated at the top of Long Street – smack bang in the middle of Cape Town’s party scene – The Waiting Room is one of the city’s coolest cocktail spots. Although the venue itself is popular with a party crowd, the rooftop terrace is a little more laid back – ideal for post-dinner cocktails. You’ll also be in a prime people watching position to take in the buzzing atmosphere on the street below. If you’re looking for a late one, head here on a weekend for live music, DJs and a great vibe.

For some of the best beach views in the city, you’ve got to head along the Atlantic Seaboard to the glamorous neighbourhood of Camp’s Bay. Chinchilla is a relatively new bar right on the beachfront which has a laid back vibe and decor that perfectly fits the setting. They have live entertainment all weekend, with resident international DJ Tess Prins hitting the decks from late afternoon on Saturdays and Sundays. Our top tip? Spend the day on the beach then grab a drink here in time to watch the sun go down – as anyone who’s been will tell you, the sunsets here are something else.

The Vue has a winning location with panoramic views of Cape Town’s big three mountains – Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and Signal Hill. Out on the deck, you can see right down to the V&A Waterfront! The cocktail menu offers twists on some well-known classics – we’d highly recommend giving their Grilled Pineapple or Blueberry & Basil Margaritas a try. Popular with a late-night local crowd, this is the place to go if you want to splash out a little. Drinks are on the pricey side, but it’s well worth it for the quality and the view (see what they did there?).
