Love is in the air this month and whether you’re fully embracing it or really dreading it, here at Atlantic Point we see it as a time to celebrate regardless of your relationship status. Because really, we should all be loving ourselves anyway right?

If you’re travelling solo at the moment or with friends, Cape Town has plenty on offer for you this Valentines Day that doesn’t involve flowers and romance. So, whether you’re feeling like rounding up your fellow travellers at AP or heading out and exploring solo,  – here is our list of some of the ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day without being loved up…

Hike it out

Let’s be honest – Cape Town is a hiker’s dream city. Whether you’re an experienced climber or a complete beginner, there are plenty of trails to choose from which will introduce you to the most beautiful views across the Mother City.

So, grab some of your new friends here at AP or just make it a date with your endorphins and head out with a backpack full of drinks and nibbles. Take some time at the top to soak in the views and make the 14th a day to remember for lots of other reasons.

If you need some route inspiration then check out our blog post for a list of the city’s best hikes.

Have a laugh

Who needs romance when you can laugh all night instead? Cape Town Comedy Club is once again hosting their Anti-Valentine’s Day show and the 2020 line-up is set to be their best yet.

Calling the V&A Waterfront its home – which is just a 10-minute walk from our doorstep –  we definitely recommend heading there early and catching dinner at one of the great restaurants nearby. Then all you need to do is rally your friends for 8:30, grab a chair and prepare yourself for a whole lot of laughter.

Soak in some culture

If you’re looking for a more relaxing endeavour, why not head to Zeitz Mocca and gaze at amazing artwork (instead of into the eyes of a date)? As the largest contemporary art museum on the continent, it’s definitely not one to be missed during your time here – plus, it’s housed in an old silo which, in itself, is pretty unique.

After learning more about our African culture, head up to the rooftop to soak in awesome views of the city and Table Mountian.

Treat yourself to some sun, sea and sand

Did you know there are 72 beaches in Cape Town? That means there is plenty of sand for you to sprawl out on with your latest book and chill out. So, pack up a picnic and give your mind a little detox with some fresh air and gorgeous views.

We suggest heading to one of the Clifton Beaches or Camps Bay which are just a short drive away from us.  Muizenberg Beach is also a cool spot if you’re interested in heading further afield and watching surfers catch some waves.

Grab a few drinks at our happy hour

Here at Atlantic Point, we are all about having fun and making memories with our guests.  And hey, what better way to connect with others and celebrate life (because travelling is pretty great, right?) than one of our many social events. From our weekly braai night to our daily happy hour, we’ve got you all covered so come relax with us and enjoy a drink (or five) with other guests and the AP team.

One of the best things about our team is that a lot of our interns are travellers just like you. We have plenty of tips and tales ready and waiting to be spilled over a beer so we’ll meet you at the bar. Last one there gets the first round of drinks…

Speaking of the bar, when you book via our website with code BEERAP, you will receive 20% off PLUS two free beers during your stay. Cheers!
